I would reccomend viewing the source code of a GTK+ webcam application such as canorama: http://camorama.fixedgear.org/

If you're talking about video playback, look into gstreamer. I don't have an example, but here is the API: http://gstreamer.freedesktop.org/data/doc/gstreamer/head/manual/html/index.html

but it is asking gtk2.10
but in my system 2.8.15
how can i run this without upgrading GTK
