I have a GTK program that uses a VTE terminal. I changed stdout and stdin to be from/to this VTE terminal window. However, on input from the user, I want to continually loop and block on a system read() until the user enters data in the VTE terminal window as input. My question is how would I implement this other continuous loop when the last thing I do in my program is call the gtk_main() routine, which is also a continuous loop on GUI events. I still want to receive all of the events for my GUI to process. Does anyone know of a way to do this? Any help would be appreciated!!

Note: I was able to do this in Xview relatively easily.
