I have a program in which I do use a "standard" unit/package that standard unit uses its own glade file. On distribution to other systems I do not the possibility to prescribe where the various glade files are positioned so the best way to position them is in the home directory where the executable is positioned. That means that I always have two identical .glade files in the development phase of such a program. That can create problems. On my system (Windows 7, Ada) I want to position that .glade file with the sources of my standard unit/package. and still use a filename when calling that is independent of the position where it is to make it possible to distribute my program without alterations direct before that distribution, that would introduce extra possibilities to crate faults.
Is there a good possibility to do such a thing? I tried gate3-04b to create direct source code but creating it on my machine was not good possible because the distribution without mentioning depended on parts that where not supposed to be already be on my system. but where not. In the case of gate3-04b I would have liked a .exe file.

Hello,

What you need to have is with you build system a configuration that during development the Glade file that you load is the one you are currently working on.

When you configure your application for installation you set the build to load the Glade file from the where you will be installing your Glade file.

This means that I just have to do what I think is a bad habit. There are two configurations of the same program one for development and one for production. And what makes it worse is that the language I use id Ada which is specially designed to be portable: the source files can be used on any certified compiler in any operating system. With this construction I have to test at least the production version on any system I want to export it to.
