I am Developing an application where i need to display Live Streaming Video in an GtkWindow for this do i have to use "gstreamer" type of libraries, is it must?

In QT i can directly send Window Id to Underneath Video Application which will display video on that Window.

Can't we do this in GTK.

My Question is, Is there any simple way of displaying Buffered Video Streaming in GtkWindow Without using gstreamer or any other COMPLEX libraries ?

The Video Streaming which i am having is already Processed i just need to display it on screen.

Thanks.
PP.

Hello.

I think you can do exactly the same thing in GTK+ (after all, this is how GstXOverlay is working). You can get window id using GDK_WINDOW_XID() macro.

If you're using GTK+ >= 2.18, you should also read this: http://library.gnome.org/devel/gtk/stable/gtk-migrating-ClientSideWindows.html.

Thanks for the post.

But as per the docs GDK_WINDOW_XID returns GdkScreen not the ID how we can retrive ID of the screen. in QT we get Screen ID as unsigned long.

Hello.

You're wrong here. GDK_WINDOW_XID() macro is a convenience call for gdk_x11_drawable_get_xid() function. This function returns XID, which is (as far as I can remember) simple typedef of unsigned long.
