hi -

I'm not a programmer but have searched/posted all over trying to get an answer and thought I'd try here.

when using "file -> open" in something like gimp, ffox, etc., the "places" column on the left of the window lists fstab entries that include "user" parameter.

I mainly want to not have "user/noauto" partitions cluttering up the "places" list but also don't really want them mounted when clicking on one (naturally if they could be hidden from "places" then the latter doesn't matter).

I don't have (and don't want) any automounting enabled in the kernel, no automount tools installed, and don't want gtk apps mounting these "user/noauto" partitions.

so how do I keep them off the "places" list? is there something I could add to ~/.gtkrc* to accomplish that?

incidentally, the "remove" rmb/gui button is permanently grayed out (pre/post-mount) so seems to not be the solution. also if it matters I have no kde/gnome stuff installed.

thanks.
