Hi All,

I am trying to use meld v1.5.1 on linux.. As meld is having dependency of gtk, so when I try to launch meld GUI it will ask for path of the files which we are going to compare.. When I click OK button, in back-end I used to get below errors.. and there will be no functionality.
Quote:
File "linux/lib/meld/meld/filediff.py", line 210, in __init__
self.load_font()
File "linux/lib/meld/meld/filediff.py", line 607, in load_font
self.pixbuf_apply0 = load("button_apply0")
File "linux/lib/meld/meld/filediff.py", line 606, in <lambda>
load = lambda x: icon_theme.load_icon(x, self.pixels_per_line, 0)
glib.GError: Unrecognized image file format

Could please some one help on above issue..

Thanks,
Ravish

Please explain in more detail what exacty you are doing. By "ask for path of files" do you mean you are using directory compare? Or do you mean asking for the filenames (and path)? The former I can't see why there would ever be a problem. In any case there is no image compare option in meld (though it can, e.g svg works but png/jpg don't) for it to expect an image format so I don't know how you came up with this at all. What is the format of the image files you are trying to open? Could you give a step by step description of what you did as well as maybe some screen shots of anything useful? You might want to also check melds bug reports and fixes in case of the rare chance that it was a bug that has since been fixed since version 1.5.1

Hi Paul,

Thanks for your reply,

Trying to run meld v1.5.1 on rhe5 platform.

1) When I invoke meld binary I could see the GUI of meld in normal way..
2) In other diff tool how you will specify the files path, similarly, we specify a path of two files(simple text) for comparison, and try to click OK button.. I will get error gtk.GError Unrecognized Image file format in command prompt.
3) That's it I could not get any expected result.. Means, it will not show any file comparison..
4) I am selecting purely text files, not any image files for comparison.

Thanks

Have you tried the latest version of Meld? The version you are using is several steps behind the current version and the error that you see could have been fixed since then.

I any case it is better to go direct to the software developers rather than here. That way it can be reported as a bug which can then be fixed properly by the author.
