A couple questions.

1. Where is the metadata stored.
2. Does the metadata file get exstreamly large?
3. Would you be willing to add in a bit of code to store the metadata in a sqlite db if not
already done so.
4. How much cpu/memory resources does giis.daemon take up.
5. Is giis stable or am i going to nuke my filesystem?
6. Do you have a mockup of what you might like the gui interface to look like?
7. Are reiserfs, xfs, jfs some other filesystems you might support in the future?

hi ,
thanks for ur interest...i started to work with a oss gtk friend...
A couple questions.
A couple of answers ;-)

1. Where is the metadata stored.
-->meta data are stored in a file under /giis directory
2. Does the metadata file get exstreamly large?
-->not extremely large ...for 894MB data giis meta took around 691.5 KB of space
3. Would you be willing to add in a bit of code to store the metadata in a sqlite db if not
already done so.
-->hmmm...i don't know abt sqlite db...may be i shall look into it.
4. How much cpu/memory resources does giis.daemon take up.
--->giis installation took around 80 seconds

giis update took 0.16.6 seconds.
it's for above said 894MB of data
5. Is giis stable or am i going to nuke my filesystem?
surely not ...mostly giis open the system as read only ...so wont damage any meta data or file system....is giis stable?....it's more less stabe :-)
6. Do you have a mockup of what you might like the gui interface to look like?
yes...
7. Are reiserfs, xfs, jfs some other filesystems you might support in the future?
hmm...just now i'm getting started with reiserfs...i'm not sure how long it will take..

thanks for your queries....giis is a simple program...though may not need more than one gui programmer ...if you are interested please let me know ...may be we three can work it.:-)

I looked over the code on sourceforge.

1. Where are you now with adding a GUI to this codeset?
2. Do you have any more documentation for this code?
3. In its current state adding a GUI would be labor intensive!
Why: The code is scattered with printf()s and globals.
4. What are your thoughts for a GUI screen layout or functionality?

I might be willing to spend time writing a GUI with the team. But I would like know more.

hi,
Thanks..yes i used too many global variable and printf() ;-)
As you said ..giis will be labor intensive!!
i can refine the codes to reduced labor intensive...
can i have your mail-id ?..we can discuss abt this.
