How to display and save input from a webcam using GTK+? I am making a "robot operating system" or just a test one and I want it to display video input from a camera in a little box inside my program. I would like it independent of programs such as gstreamer since I would like it to work on other unix systems without the need to install external programs for it to work
I am using gtk+ and I am a novice/intermediate programmer
thanks

Hello and welcome,

First you do not say how you intend on getting the video data from the camera. GTK+ is a widget library and does not work with multimedia directly. To do this you need another library and in this case gstreamer may well be the best solution. Note that gstreamer is not just a programme, but also a library the works with multimedia and part of the Gnome libraries.
