Hello
I installed valgrind on my ubuntu system and wanted to start the application using the command
valgrind --leak-check=yes --log-file=valgrind.log /NameOfApp

it starts and I can begin to work as usual but after a time, as I want to start an part of the programms that refresh the screen all 100ms and has communication with a servo controller, it freezes and I can only abort the application.

Is it possible that the mecheck is to slow to run an application with tasks which are repeated all 50ms and timers which run a function every 100ms?

Hello,

Valgrind is a very good tool, though it has its limitations. In your case you have found that it is too slow for real time applications. This is due to Valgrind interpreting every machine code instruction which makes the application run very slow. This is part of its strength in that it can trap every memory access, but also its weakness.

The are other memory profiling tools out there and Glib has some very basic tools built in.
