Hi, I want to build a test sniffer that works in Windows/Mac/Linux. Because I want to be able to run without installing it, I can’t use libpcap. Is there a way to put a NIC in promiscuous mode using the GTK Library?

Hello,

GTK is a graphical tool kit and not aimed at networking it is aimed at creating a graphical user interface. There are some networking API functions in some of the base libraries that GTK is based upon, but nothing that would replace libpcap. There is an application called Wireshark that is built using GTK that also uses libpcap so you can use them together.

Hallo. Thank you for the answer. I think there is no alternative for me. I will need to use libpcap.
