Hello,

GTK+ always uses UTF8 for displaying text.

AN example of the use of the GtkTextView can be found at https://developer.gnome.org/gnome-devel-demos/unstable/textview.c.html.en

With more tutorials at https://developer.gnome.org/gnome-devel-demos/unstable/c.html.en and our own list at http://www.gtkforums.com/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=988
