I check this forum every day for interesting posts and feedback. Recently, however, there seems to be a lot of spam hitting the site. Can the moderators do anything about this?

I think all postings should require a CAPTCHA. I'm tired of all the spam.

I'm tired of it too. Unfortunately, reCAPTCHA and all other captcha's have been cracked by the spam bots as of January of this year. That's how our first spam attack happened. This one was a little different. I spent a lot of time getting things back in order--hopefully I've done enough to keep it to a minimum for a while longer.

Yep, and it's an ongoing battle--always will be. But for now it's manageable. What happened last month was thousands of sleeper bots were able to get through registration. After sleeping for a couple of weeks they start posting tens of thousands of spam posts which not only makes it very difficult to weed through, it also bogs down the server and effectively shuts down the site. That's the second time we've had that problem here on this forum--the first time was when bots finally cracked reCAPTCHA.

If you guys see spam, feel free to report it using the little red exclamation mark at the bottom of the post. That makes it easier for me to identify the spam messages and delete the user and their posts. Also keep in mind that I run this forum in my free time, of which I have very little.

I have never seen a legitimate post in these forums yet that need a subject or body with any of the words:
viagra; cialis, levitra, oxycodone, vicodin, herbal, enlargement, adidas, nike, gucci or rolex

Why can't these be used to catch the spam?
